In a world of Angelyne, vapid writhing girly pop and the Taliban I selfishly ache for inspiration from other sistas with voices not tit jobs. Just what is the Feminine after it's lifted out from underneath the subtleties of the 75c women earn to a man's $1 for the same job done and truly felt in an egalitarian context. Anyway, feels like one of those things that should be more of a priority to discover rather like love and/or peace. Shit it's still an anomaly to me and I have a uterus. I feel it is an energy that is so rarely allowed to be unfettered that it is often even challenging to some women when it becomes concentrated. So Chicks in Arms is an attempt to raise and create this for an evening. Bringing together women artists to witness each other and help reinforce our voices as many in one. Chicks in Arms however, is not about exclusivity and gladly acknowledges the existence of the feminine in men. We always like to include brothers who feel they have pieces pertinent to the theme of the evening provided they wear a skirt with pride and consider themselves privileged to be invited into such a circle.
