Entry: April 2000

So we returned from tour, march 20. We had the best time towards the end in the south, none of us had ever been to Mississippi or Alabama, and me and stricke-9 had never been to New Orleans. Mardi Gras had just finished though you got the flavour of it from the sweltering smells and lingering, swaying partiers on Bourbon St, the only place in America I've experienced take out daquiris and open container drinking in the streets. (big woop)

My mum came to visit us in New York, and then made it to Boston and D.C. too. My mum and me get on pretty well these days, although it was trippy having her with. We haven't spent much time together in the last ten years so now I find I really appreciate her company. We had a really good laugh together, especially at Urban Cowgirls, this girl show we went to. It was in this bar under the Brooklyn Bridge, and as the night continued the percentage of women became higher and higher, and once in a while little old men would be helped quietly out the door as their reality became irreversably challanged by numerous flamboyant dykes in cowboy hats and boas drinking, singing and becoming progressivly more roudy. I just love a bar when chicks are in charge.

Steph is staying with me right now, she's a friend I met with Thais, Ellyn, Laura, Cynthia, Amanda, Dawn etc, so many sistas in Corvalllis OR. She's working on some of her tunes in a studio here, however she's leaving soon to play at the University of Oregon in Eugene on Saturday April 29 at Lesbopoluza. Show kicks off at noon, Steph @ 7pm

So I start rehursal, next week for the next tour beginning May 6 thro June 18. I have a new cellist, her name's Rebecca and unfornunately Melle can't join us till Chicago, so Chris will play guitar till then. Danilo our new sound guy, is also a shit hot drummer from a local Chicano activist band called Quetzal. Unlike the last two tours this one will be mostly club dates, highlights should be Holly Figeuroa's Indiegrrl show on mother's day (May 14) in Seattle, Marca Cassidy's Where's Richard? show in Boulder May 19, Amanda's house concert in Toronto May 28 and The Bottom Line, June 2 and 16. and of course Calamity Jan Bell's Urban Cowgirls in Brooklyn, June 17.(For the rest of >the dates see this site)

Me and Steph went to the Ani show here in LA on April 18, she played this huge amphitheatre in Universal studios, she rocked as usual, thou it would be nice to see her play a smaller venue and pack it for two nights though I guess she's already been there done that. Twas a stella evening, and I got to see a bunch of girls I hadn't seen in ages. Check out the new links page, and if you have any suggestions of others you think might be included leave them on the forum pages.

Sending much love to all seeking singing sistas (and everyone else) (god I'm just so perky)

peace
