Entry: August 2000

So I'm in London right now. I haven't been to England for a year and a half to see family so here I am. Thanks to all the people who were so supportive on the last tour, which ended in New York on June 20. Calamity Jan sported us with an excellent final show at Superfine under the Brooklyn Bridge. Melle and Rebecca and me played on the back of a pale blue '63 Chevy pickup parked on the sidewalk on a hot NY summer night. That gig also featured an impromptu appearance from Raliegh Neal, an old friend of mine who's floor we were sleeping on and who also happened to play in the "Splendid Frock" with me a few years back.

Other quality moments of the tour included (not in this order) Boulder CO, at Marca Cassidy's "Where's Richard" show which is always a femfest with lots of brawny chin wagging wimmin. Salt Lake City, came thro as always, with a sweet show at the Zephyr Club. We had a laugh with Amanda in Toronto, and thanks to the bloke who drove from Virginia to see that show. The parking lot scene (the only scene) at Kerrville Folk festival where it rained and Rebecca was not to happy carrying her cello round in the mud at 5 in the morning. The piano at Camp Stupid is always a nice touch. Thanks to Chez Rays in Eugene for a nice new venue with great vibes, food and beards. Passim's in Boston was the fastest soundcheck execution ever. Kevin Stricke-9 often gets lost in Boston, so just as well we were well oiled by then. It was also cool to have Steph and Marca Cassidy spontaneously hop on board so that we gradually became this chick roadshow of three different songwriters.

As time passes in a small space, you get to know each other real well and soon we played off each other and played each other, which was a big reason Toronto was so fun. We got carried away with our nun Sista Catherine but the crowd at the Oasis didn't seem to mind. Some people may have met or be familiar with our plastic squeaky nun. During the miles we amused ourselves by developing her persona which the moved on to painting sets, writing scripts and filming her. Steph managed to hook up some dumpster dived hi-fi equipment to the RV stereo with some microphones and effects which really worked when Sista Catherine dropped acid at a kiss concert. Anybody who feels like helping us edit 20 hours of nun footage, drop us a line. Currently Sista Catherine, is being held hostage, against her will in Austin TX by a tribe of Zena like wimmin. Any info of her condition or whereabouts could lead to a reward.

So its pretty weird being in England, usually when I come here I just stay at my mum's pub for two weeks making sandwiches and pulling pints, and she lives in the middle of knowwhere. So this time I decided to stay in central London, as I never really have. I am going to play some shows here, in August, check on this site for dates and venues. I've never played a show here before so if you know anyone here, let them know about the shows. Thanks everyone for your support, I'll be back on Sept 15.
